Ice Cream

Hershey Ice Cream will offer service to our school again this year, with yummy treats for Friday afternoons! The first Ice Cream Friday will be September 2, 2011. The last one will be May 25, 2012. There are a few changes to the program as explained here.

Volunteers are needed to assist the Friday elementary Ice Cream program from 1:30 - 2:30 pm. Please contact Tori Klug at theklugs@bellsouth.net or 704-872-1501. Thank you!

At the elementary school, RAP is once again only offering a year-round card for $30. This places your child on the list to always receive an ice cream on Fridays. The year-round option was very popular when introduced two years ago, and not having to deal with cash every Friday makes this process much easier for all of the adults and teachers involved. Please submit your year-round card payment to RAP by August 26, or better yet use the All-in-One Form in the Downloads section. Mid-year cards will not be offered, order now!

At the middle school, RAP is partnering with the Civitans to raise more money for both groups in the ice cream fundraiser. The prices are slightly higher at the middle school, but please remember that this is a fundraiser, and they do get larger portion sizes than those available at the elementary school. A 10-punch card is available at the middle school for $15. A year-round card will cost $40. Again, please submit your year-round card payment to RAP by August 26.

Lack of Snack!

RAP will not be offering snack and bottled water choices to the elementary students for this school year. Individual teachers may offer an option to purchase snack, or you may send a snack with your child each day.  The entire school will continue to have a snack break each morning. We encourage all parents to send healthy snacks, such as water, fresh fruit, lowfat yogurt, fresh veggies, peanut butter crackers, and cheese.

RAP apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.  The snack program was not profitable enough to justify, especially once volunteer time and gas were considered.  The cost and storage of healthier food options also were prohibitive to a realistic fundraiser.
